Museveni to re-invade DRC?

Yebo Gogo blog comments on report that Ugandan strongman Yoweri Museveni wants to re-invade the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rwandan newspaper The New Times claims that the Ugandan leader met with a high ranking American official seeking US backing for the invasion. Museveni's press secretary insisted that he was merely 'lobbying' the US as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Given the Bush administration's position on pre-emption (aggression), it's reasonable to assume they would support Museveni's desires.

Soweto: 30 years later

Today is the 30th anniversary of the Soweto massacre. In 1976, the racist apartheid government imposed Afrikaans as the sole language of education. Thousands of black South African students took to the streets to protest. Over 300 peaceful student protesters were slaughtered in Soweto (a township of Johannensburg) by the regime's forces of disorder and over 100 more in other parts of the country. US National Public Radio ran an excellent radio documentary on the anniversary.
